End of February 2025 the 2nd edition of GAeF START conference took place in Winterthur and has been a very succesful event with 80 participants and a lot of interaction. Thanks to everyone joining and contributing to this lively happening.

After election of the new GAeF board, all ten board members including president, past pres-
ident, secretary general and treasurer elected the deputy of the president among the six
other board members. In accordance with the GAeF constitution and the electoral rules, the
election was decided by the chair of the election committee to take place during the first
web meeting of the new board on 2 October 2024.
Agnieszka Straus (Kupc) was elected as vice president unanimously.

We are happy to announce the results of the Board Election for the 2024-2026 GAeF Board. Please note the vice president will be elected during the first Boardmeeting on October 2.

During EAC2024 Jonas Elm received the prestigious Schmauss Award for his contributions in the field of atmospheric cluster modeling and nucleation of atmospheric particles.

The EAA Award recognises outstanding performance of an individual whose career has been distinguished by a sustained commitment to excellence in endeavours of science, research, and leadership in the field of aerosol science and technology. There are few in our field who have had such impacts on the theoretical, educational, operational and practical elements of our field like Bernhard Vogel.

Christina Williamson was awarded with the Schmauss Award 2023 during EAC2023 in Malaga recognizing her significant research contributions related to atmospheric aerosol science. The award was presented by the chair of the committee Prof. Gerhard Kasper together with our President Prof. Christof Asbach and our Treasurer Dr. Sebastian Schmitt. Congratulations, Christina!

Patryk Merkl was awarded with the GAeF PhD Award during EAC2023 in Malaga for his outstanding work related to his PhD thesis on "Responsive Nanostructured Materials for Bioanalyte Detection and Triggered Antimicrobial Therapy". The award was handed over by our President Prof. Christof Asbach together with our Treasurer Dr. Sebastian Schmitt.

Vaios Moschos was awarded with the GAeF PhD Award during EAC2023 in Malaga for his outstanding work related to his PhD thesis on "Assessing the composition and sources of climate-relevant atmospheric aerosol species". The award was handed over by our President Prof. Christof Asbach together with our Treasurer Dr. Sebastian Schmitt.

Dear Members, it's time to meet again for THE big event in european aerosol science. And it is time to celebrate the launch of our new Aerosol Research journal. On this occassion GAeF is inviting you for some drinks during the Tuesday lunchbreak at the AR booth @EAC2023. We are looking forward to meeting you there.

The deadlines for nominating candidates for 2023 GAeF Awards (Schmauss, Smoluchowski and PhD Award) have been extended to June 1st 2023 00:00 CEST.

The brand new Diamond Open Access Journal "Aerosol Research" has just been launched and welcomes submissions from all fields of aerosol science. The first discussion paper has been posted today.

It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we have to take leave of Prof. Dr. Astrid Kiendler-Scharr, who passed away much too early on 6th February 2023.

The abstract submission for EAC2023 is now open. The deadline is February 28.

The election committee is happy to announce the Result of Board Election 2022-2024. Please read the attached communication.

In a letter dated 05.08.2022, the District Court of Cologne informed us that the statutes adopted by the General Assembly on 06.10.2021 were entered in the Cologne Register of Associations (VR20419) as of 04.08.2022. Thus the new statutes are valid since 04.08.2022.

GAeF financially supports students to participate at the International Aerosol Conference 2022 organized as hybrid event ​by the HAAR (Hellenic Association for Aerosol Research) in Athens (Greece). Online participation is supported to the extent of the participation fees.
